Administration

Material planning and quote processing – Guido R. feels completely in his element here.

Making an impression with commitment and performance

Guido R. (50) is a real organizational talent. He ensures that all the materials required for Krüger’s production of instant teas and sweeteners are always available on time.

You are currently jointly responsible for the provision of materials for Krüger’s production of instant teas and sweeteners at the Bergisch Gladbach site. But you started out in a completely different position. What was it like back then?

It was definitely not the case that I had big career goals right from the start. In fact, I started working for Krüger as a temporary forklift driver in 2005. And after only two months I got a permanent contract. I simply did my job well, showed commitment and continued my training. And so I soon packed pallets, then became a machine operator and finally switched to administration.

“From forklift operator to administrator? This is possible at Krüger, where you can still work your way up.”

Can you give us an idea of what working in material provision is like and what the role means exactly?

I am responsible for ensuring that the machines in the production facility always have the materials they need for the defined processes. For example, if lemon tea is to be packed in our factory hall on Tuesday morning at eleven o’clock, I make sure that all the necessary components such as packaging, granulate and labels are provided from our high-bay warehouse.

And the materials must not get in the way or hinder the other work processes, but nor must they be made available too late for production either. This requires well-coordinated planning.

That sounds like you need to have a tight schedule. What do you enjoy most about your work?

Organizing and planning are easy for me, and I can also forget the time of day as it whizzes by. Sometimes I look at the clock and am amazed at how quickly a working day can pass. This is always better than the day dragging – there’s really no danger of that happening here. My area of responsibility is too varied for that. This includes, for example, carrying out regular quality controls or ordering new material from our suppliers. It is precisely those aspects of my job, which may seem dry to others, that give me the greatest pleasure. And that’s how it has to be; after all, you spend a large part of your life at work.

Why do you like working for Krüger?

Krüger is one of those companies where you can work your way up with performance and commitment. I still like it here very much: There is not only a job, but also career prospects. And that can no longer be taken for granted these days.
